HANCEVILLE – The Lady Eagles wrapped up this year’s Wallace State Christmas Challenge Friday afternoon with a 51-36 victory over the Lauderdale County Lady Tigers.
Cold Springs jumped ahead to an eight-point lead by the end of the first quarter and despite some full-court pressure from Lauderdale County, the Lady Eagles maintained a 32-25 lead at the half. Elizabeth Hill led Cold Springs with 11 points at the break.
The Lady Tigers started the third quarter with a 5-0 run to cut into the lead, but the Lady Eagles applied some defensive pressure of their own and created some separation. Cold Springs stretched the lead to 45-34 by the end of the third.
By that point the Lady Eagles’ lead and defense were too much for Lauderdale County to overcome and Cold Springs pulled away to win it 51-36 and move to 12-4 on the season.
Hill led the Lady Eagles with 18 points, followed closely by Toni West who finished with 16.
After the game, head coach Tammy West said she was happy with how her team adjusted in the second half defensively and how they are playing right now overall.
“Right now, I feel like we are playing well together and that’s huge,” she said. “We are sharing the ball, but I think we can cut down on some of our turnovers, but overall it was a good day today.”
