CULLMAN – You know Southern Eats – Meals to Go on Second Avenue Southeast in Cullman; now you can dine in at the establishment’s second location: Southern Eats Cafe inside Mae’s Food Hall in the Warehouse District.
The ribbon was cut on the new cafe Thursday morning, with Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs, members of the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce and many friends and family who came out to congratulate owner Laci Schuman for her hard work and success.
The new Southern Eats Cafe offers dine-in choices of soups, sandwiches and desserts. At the ribbon cutting guests were treated to chicken salad, pimento cheese or spicy pimiento cheese on croissants and sausage or bacon balls.
Schumer described herself as “thrilled” when asked about expanding into the Mae’s location. She added, “Let’s all support Mae’s and get people back in here. It’s a great and relaxing place for people to enjoy. We could use some more foot traffic. There are many options here and I think the cafe brings some lighter choices, some mom food.”
All of Southern Eats’ food is made fresh daily at the original location.
Schuman explained, “We are our own commissary and the two locations being nearby works out great. When we run out of something at the cafe we can get more fresh from a few blocks away.”
Southern Eats Cafe is open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and the bartenders at nearby Ruckus Bar have access to the cafe’s sandwiches during the later hours.
