CULLMAN COUNTY – After raising approximately $8,000 at its 10th annual charity golf tournament in October, the Cullman County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments has begun to use that money for underprivileged children in the area. The names of 40 children in the Cullman County Schools system have been sent to the CCAVFD, which is in the process of buying their gifts as we speak.
CCAVFD Vice President David Scott talked briefly about how the organization learns which kids need help through its relationship with Cullman County Schools.
“We get in touch with all of the county schools and the counselors get together the names of the needy children and turn them in,” Scott said. “We’ve gotten them in from all the schools and we have representatives from the departments in the county out buying for the children now.”
