This year’s Holly Market Christmas Arts and Crafts Show has the Cullman Civic Center packed with loads of holiday vendors. The show continues Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (Christy Perry for The Cullman Tribune)
CULLMAN – The Holly Market Christmas Arts and Crafts Show 2018 is underway with countless one-of-a-kind gifts available for all those people on your Christmas list. The show, at the Cullman Civic Center, continues Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All booths feature handmade products from area vendors.
Civic Center Managing Director Kelly Pulliam said, “We really appreciate the community supporting us and we have grown over the years. I know the vendors appreciate it too. A lot of hard work goes into this show, including the vendors. I hope everyone will come out and help support these vendors by shopping local. There are so many unique items you won’t find anywhere else.”
The event is free, but there are concessions and other things for purchase inside. Proceeds will go to help the Cullman Parks, Recreation, and Sports Tourism’s Therapeutic Recreation Program for individuals with special needs.
Pulliam explained, “We have partnered with the Cullman Autism & Special Needs Family Support Group to help provide fun events and activities for special needs families in our community. We have the Christmas party coming up very soon.”
The Holly Market has transformed the civic center into a whimsical Christmas village with the Jingle Bell Bakery, Candy Cane Cafe and a children’s area for crafts and letters to Santa. Cook Nancy Kuykendall with Farmhouse Bakery has fun shaped cookies ready for kids to decorate with icing and sprinkles. She is joined by Mrs. Claus with Santa expected to arrive at noon on Saturday.
Farmhouse Bakery also has many yummy confections available for purchase, including the popular peanut brittle from a more than 100-year-old recipe passed down through Kuykendall’s family. Several vendors are offering a mouthwatering variety of baked goods, beverages and mixes, candies and snacks. Emily’s Heirloom Pound Cakes, from Hoover, has samples of the variety of cakes she has ready to go.
My Mother’s Kluckers has created delightful chicken-themed gourd art. Kat Cottage has beautiful cat beds/hammocks, a fantastic idea for any cat lover on your list. Debbie Conner Pottery, Perkins Crafts and so many other wonderful vendors are hoping for a crowd on Saturday.
The Candy Cane Cafe has concessions and drinks. On Saturday, they will have chili, grilled cheese, peach cobbler and strawberry shortcake.
