CULLMAN – Investigators with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), along with agents from the Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) on Friday arrested Christian Davis Barnett, 22, and Desiree Jean Barnes, 20, both of Cullman, following the execution of a search warrant at an apartment complex on Dripping Springs Road in the city of Cullman.

According to a media release from the CCSO, the search warrant was executed late last week. Allegedly found during the search were 8 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, an AR-15, a short-barreled shotgun and drug paraphernalia.

“I am glad the agents and investigators were able to arrest those suspects before they were able to distribute that meth into our community. I am also glad we were able to confiscate those weapons from these suspects before someone got hurt.  I am 100 percent for good people owning a firearm, but there is no reason a drug dealer needs these type weapons unless they had bad intentions,” said Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry. “I would also like to thank the CNET agents and CCSO investigators for the good job they did.”

Barnett was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, possession of a short-barreled shotgun and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Barnes was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both suspects have made bond.
