CULLMAN – Merchants Bank of Alabama on Tuesday presented donations to local nonprofit organizations from funds raised at the bank’s 25th annual Charity Classic golf tournament, which was held at Terri Pines in September.

Cullman Caring for Kids, The Good Samaritan Health Clinic and Hospice of Cullman County each received $7,000 at a small ceremony held at the bank’s main branch.

Javon Daniel and Nancy Bryant from Cullman Caring for Kids estimated that 49,000 pounds of food can be purchased with the generous gift.

Jolanda Hutson and Cindy Barnett accepted the gift for the Good Samaritan.

Barnett said, “This is such a blessing and we are extremely grateful.”

Shelly Ligon, Cullman Regional Home Care and Hospice director, said of the donation, “The support shown to us by the community is so important. We all do such important work.”

Merchants Executive Vice President and CFO, Clark Rainwater, shared, “The golf tournament continues to be successful because of volunteers from the community and the bank’s employees’ hard work. We love this community and being a part of the community is important. I want to thank all the sponsors, donors and participants. We had 144 golfers making 36 teams. Some have been coming every year and from as far away as Atlanta.”

Merchants Bank also made a donation to the Boys and Girls Ranches of Alabama.
