BAILEYTON – The 10th annual Parkside Pumpkin Run took place Saturday morning, with 30-plus runners taking off from Parkside School, looping around Baileyton and finishing up at the town’s park.
Young runners from Holly Pond had a great race with Christopher Putman being the first to cross the finish line and Abigail Kusz being the first female participant to finish. Austin Alexander of Good Hope had a great run finishing second overall.
-10-14 year old winners were Millie Harris and Hunter Farr.
-15-19 year old winners were Bella Kaufman and Austin Alexander.
-20-29 year old winners were Lauren Estes and Ashton Guthrie
-30-39 year old winner was Shane Rusk.
-Over 40 winners were Parkside Principal Richard Orr and Leslie Smith.
Putman felt he had a good race, saying, “My best 5K time is 19:46 and I finished today in 20:05. It’s a good race for me and Abigail going into sectionals Thursday at Fairview.”
Orr invited visitors back to Parkside to tour the hallways of the school. Parkside has gained recognition for its murals and creative decorating throughout the school. The fifth-grade hallway and classrooms have been transformed into all things Harry Potter and Hogwarts.
Orr praised his staff. “They do all the planning for this run, so I can’t really take any credit for it.”
