LOCUST FORK -The Bulldogs traveled to Locust Fork Friday night for their final regional matchup of the season and the Hornets scored early and often to take down Hanceville 35-8.
Locust Fork marched down the field to get off to fast start with a seven-play, 80-yard drive capped off by a quarterback keeper that made it 7-0. Following a Hanceville fumble, Locust Fork recovered and put together a 10-play, 80-yard drive and moved ahead of the Bulldogs 14-0.
Hanceville answered on its next possession and found the end zone with a 60-yard bomb pass play from quarterback Bo Joles to wide out Logan Guthrie for a Bulldog touchdown. The 2-point conversion was good as Romael Simmons took it in to cut the deficit to 14-8.
Just moments later, the Hornets connected for another touchdown after a seven-play, 61-yard drive to stretch the lead to 21-8 going into the half.
The defenses strengthened for both teams early in the third, but Locust Fork found a way to add to its lead with a 55-yard drive that made it 28-8 with 2:20 left in the third quarter.
The Hornets found the end zone one final time with just seconds left on the game clock, closing the game with a 35-8 win over Hanceville.
The Bulldogs drop to 1-8 on the season with a rivalry game coming up next week at (8-1) Good Hope to finish up their fall schedule.
