The Cullman Tribune would like to wish Mrs. Wynell Ray Lee a happy 100th birthday! Flint Creek Baptist threw Wynell a grand celebration after church services this past Sunday. More than 200 people came from all over to shower her with gifts, balloons, flowers and lots of love. Wynell was surprised by “all the fuss” but was all smiles as she showed off all her gifts. The party had Bama football-themed plates and napkins.
She said, “I never knew I had so many friends and folks who loved me.”
As part of a series profiling area seniors, The Cullman Tribune featured Wynell on Oct. 11. Read her story here.
UPDATE:
Rep. Randall Shedd, R-Fairview surprised Wynell Wednesday morning to wish her a happy 100th birthday. He delivered a special gift to her from the Alabama House of Representatives: a certificate signed by Alabama House Speaker Mac McCutcheon commending and recognizing her on her special day.
Wynell was thrilled, saying, “I am so glad you came and I love you. You might give me a big head with all the attention.”
Shedd and Wynell discussed local residents in the Providence area they both know and discovered that they might possibly be related.
Shedd told Wynell, “I am truly honored to have met you and glad I could be a part of your very special day!”
He explained to The Tribune, “Days like this and being able to meet special members of our community like Mrs. Lee are the best part of my job. We have a great community and Mrs. Lee is a gift.”
