CULLMAN – Nearly 400 runners competed on the trails at St. Bernard on a rainy Saturday morning for the annual Oktoberfest Invitational, and a pair of individual first-place finishes came from local participants. Holly Pond’s Camilla Chambers placed first in the girls’ 1A-3A division with a time of 20:30.40, while Cullman’s Will Thompson finished on top of the boys’ 4A-7A division at 16:48.84. Those first-place finishes helped Cullman and Holly Pond finish first and third in their divisions, respectively.
Team-wise, the Lady Saints finished first in the 1A-3A division ahead of Altamont with a time of 1:56:04.10 while in the boys’ 1A-3A division, St. Bernard finished second just behind Altamont at 1:34:25.07. The Lady Bearcats also finished near the top Saturday morning, coming in second behind Lawrence County with a time of 1:49:53.88.
