Vehicles recovered were a 2007 GMC Yukon and a late 1980s or early 1990s Mercury Grand Marquis. It appears both vehicles had been in the lake for many years; the Grand Marquis could have been in the lake for decades. (Cullman County Sheriff’s Office)
CULLMAN – The Cullman County Sheriff's Office Dive Team, with the assistance of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Marine Division, recovered two vehicles from the Lions Club Landing area of Smith Lake late Thursday.
"We would like to thank the fishermen who identified these vehicles on their depth finder and notified law enforcement. Anytime we are able to locate and remove vehicles from the lake that is a good thing due to chemicals that are in the vehicles," said Sheriff Matt Gentry. "This is still an ongoing investigation and we are working with ALEA to determine if the vehicles are stolen.”
