CULLMAN COUNTY – Alabama State Troopers said late Tuesday that a Moulton woman and her teenage son were the victims in Tuesday morning's fatal crash on Alabama Highway 69 in Cullman County.
The victims have been identified by the Cullman County Coroner’s Office as Sarah Eileen Aldridge, 41, and her 14-year-old son, whose name has not been released.
The wreck happened Tuesday morning on Alabama Highway 69, approximately 2 miles south of Bug Tussle, going toward Jasper, around 10 a.m.
According to initial emergency dispatch reports, an 18-wheeler hauling steel coils jackknifed off an embankment on top of the vehicle; however, Troopers Tuesday night said the woman and her son were killed when the 2009 Nissan Cube she was driving crossed the center line and collided with a 2006 Peterbilt.
The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Peterbilt was not injured.
The Cold Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama State Troopers and Cullman Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the scene.
