CULLMAN – It is with sadness that we report the news of the passing of Cullman Today founder Timothy Collins after a brief illness. Tim had only been in Cullman a few short years, but he amassed a large and loyal following on Facebook and in the community. The Cullman County emergency responder community held a candlelight vigil for Tim Sunday evening.
The staff of The Cullman Tribune extends its deepest sympathy to the Collins family in this time of sorrow.
A statement from Tim's family was posted on the Cullman Today Facebook page Monday evening:
"We are heartbroken that Tim has passed away today following a brief illness. We have lost a husband and a father. This community has lost a leader and a friend. The world has lost an amazing human being. Tim was authentic, genuine and he loved this community. Tim was passionate about his work at Cullman Today because he wanted to make Cullman a better place. We look forward to continuing his legacy of service to this community.
"Tim’s family is grateful for the prayers, support and kindness of those who shared their love for Tim. Many who read this will mourn with them because Tim touched so many lives. Tim’s funeral services will be announced soon. Meanwhile, the family asks for everyone to respect their privacy during this time of grief."
Please keep Tim's family in your prayers.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at Cullman Heritage on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville.
