CULLMAN – Cullman Regional Home Health and Hospice celebrated the opening of its new location Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Mayor Woody Jacobs and representatives from the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce joined staff, representatives from Cullman Regional and Hospice of Cullman County board members for a tour of the new facility located at 1938 Alabama Hwy. 157 Suite 102.

Home Health and Hospice Director Shelly Ligon said of the new location, “It’s a dream come true for us. After many years at CRMC, we now have a permanent home with greater visibility and accessibility. We are all together instead of spread out and we are so excited. Dr. (William) Peinhardt and Dr. (Adam) Harrison are our medical directors. They are great, and we have the most caring staff.”

As a nonprofit organization, Home Health and Hospice receives donated supplies and the new location allows it to have all the supplies together and more easily organized. Dropping off donations will also be much easier to do. Home Health and Hospice helps provide clients with personal hygiene products, canned foods, adult incontinence supplies, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers.

Ligon said she hopes the new location will help attract more volunteers.

“We are much more visible here and we have new signage on both sides of the building. We have already had a few people stop by after seeing us as they drove past on Highway 157. That’s really great and we have many volunteer opportunities. It means so much to our clients to have people come by and sit with them.”

Home Health and Hospice has approximately 30 employees and offers services including therapy, nursing, bathing, wound specialty nurses; it specializes in end-of-life care. The new location will also be the meeting place for the Alzheimer's Support Group.
