BAILEYTON – A van crashed into the Dollar General in Baileyton around midnight Monday morning. The store was closed so no employees were harmed.
According to a spokesperson, the driver of the van appeared to be unconscious when the van rolled through the front of the store but woke up afterward to drive away.
The full extent of the damage won't be known until employees can enter the store to assess the situation, but the glass store front has been mostly shattered and one of the registers has been pushed out of position.
The store, located at 13600 Alabama Highway 69, will be closed for at least two weeks to a month while repairs are underway.
