CULLMAN – In recognition of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Awareness Month, Cullman Regional is hosting free PAD screenings on Thursday, Aug. 9 and Friday, Sept. 7 at Cullman Regional.
According to the American Heart Association, PAD affects about 8.5 million Americans, becoming more common as people age. PAD is a problem that causes poor blood flow to the arms, legs or feet. Cullman Regional’s screenings offer opportunities to check your risk for PAD and more.
Screenings include the following for all participants at no charge:
- Lipid panel
- Body Mass Index check
- EKG (Electrocardiogram)
- Blood pressure screening
- ABI screening
- Bone density screening
“The goal of these screenings is to help community members identify any potential risk factors they may have in order to reduce their risk for peripheral artery disease,” said Lindsey Dossey, vice president marketing & community outreach. “We want to help our community catch potential risks and get them under control before it becomes an emergency.”
Do you suffer from leg pain that improves with rest? Do you have high blood pressure? Do you smoke? Do you have a family member with PAD? If so, you could be at risk. Call to schedule your appointment today. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. To register, call 256- 735-5600 or register online at www.cullmanregional.com.
