CULLMAN – Cullman’s annual Flag Day celebration will be held at the Elks Lodge tonight, Wednesday, June 13 at 7 p.m.
“It’s a colorful and patriotic ritual that is both fun and educational for the entire family, including kids and grandkids. We talk about the history of our flag, display different ones from several periods in American history, have patriotic music and meet some of our local military veterans who have fought for our flag,” said a spokesperson for the Elks.
The celebration is a free, family-friendly event. Parking is also free, and refreshments will be served.
Local combat veterans from Cullman’s VFW will speak, along with members of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Greg Burks from the Cullman band, Round 2, will lead the patriotic music, and the guest speaker will be retired Army Col. Ralph Bryson, who was deputy director of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville after his military career.
Cullman Elks Lodge #1609 is located at 1609 Brantley Ave. NW, Cullman.
