CULLMAN – A Cullman County man was indicted for rape by Cullman County grand jury recently. Colby Michael Chapman, 20, was indicted on May 17 on three counts, according to court documents: second-degree rape, production of obscene matter and possession of obscene matter.
The indictments stem from Chapman’s arrest on Feb. 15, 2018 for second-degree rape, for which he had a $10,000 bond. His alleged crimes involved a victim younger than 17.
For count one of the indictment, according to court records, Chapman “being sixteen years of age or older, did engage in sexual intercourse with a member of the opposite sex, to-wit: (redacted) date of birth 08/19/02, who was less than sixteen years of age and more than twelve years of age.”
For counts two and three, Chapman is accused of producing and possessing obscene materials containing a visual representation of the underage victim.
Chapman was processed on Friday, May 25, 2018 following his indictment. His bond was set at $50,000 and he was ordered to have no contact with victim of victim’s family and to forfeit all his electronic devices.
