GOOD HOPE – Good Hope Service Center spent the Good Friday holiday giving back to the community by offering free oil changes all day. Cars were lined up out front early Friday morning and the center stayed packed through lunch.

Owner Robert Taylor and his technicians serviced anyone who showed up needing help, no matter where they were from. The generous policy led to some big numbers for Taylor and his staff early.

“We had people from Decatur come, one lady was like 1,500 miles over for an oil change and didn’t have the money to do it; we had them lined up out to the road. I don’t have the total yet, but we did over 25 before lunch.”

Good Hope Service Center has a reputation for helping others in the community and offers special services to some customers year-round.

“It’s just a way for us to give back to the community here, we appreciate everybody’s business that we get. We just try do a lot of little things like that. We do first responders, the police and a 25 percent discount any day of the week for the military.”

Taylor recognized that Good Friday was a great opportunity for he and his crew to practice their faith by serving others.

“We do different things throughout the year like on Veterans Day, we always supply veterans and ex-military with free oil changes. It just kind of hit me, this is Good Friday and I remembered what Christ did for us today. We’re supposed to serve other people and we’ve been blessed with the business here, so we just decided to do free oil changes and give back to everyone for Good Friday.”
