CULLMAN – This year’s Colors of Cancer Day will include three events, with a chance for everyone to participate and help raise funds for the Cullman County Bosom Buddies Foundation. The events will take place on Saturday, April 7.
First up will be the fourth annual Colors of Cancer 5K Run/Walk at the Cullman County Fairgrounds. Registration will be from 6:45-7:45 a.m. The 5K will begin at 8. T-shirts and bags for runners will be available at registration. A medal presentation will follow. For more information, contact lcole7857@gmail.com.
For the adventurous, there’s the Bikers Against Cancer 5th Annual Bike Ride. Participants will meet at Professional Office Building II at Cullman Regional Hospital in the back parking lot. Registration and breakfast will be in the Colonel Cullman Room from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Kick stands up at 9:30. The cost is $25 per rider and $10 per passenger. The 110-mile trip will travel through Bankhead National Forest and back for a free lunch, provided by Cullman Regional, on return. For more information, contact Mary Dyer at 256-339-0911.
Lastly, a Swamp John's dinner will be held at the Festhalle from 4-7 p.m. For $11 per plate, attendees can enjoy the entertainment of the Revelations while eating Swamp John's fish, shrimp or chicken strip dinners. Carry-out will also be available. Buy tickets in advance at Options (2201 Second Ave. NW in Cullman) or the day of the event at the Festhalle. Proceeds from all three events will benefit the nonprofit Cullman County Bosom Buddies Foundation, which works to meet the needs of cancer patients and their families. The foundation assists Cullman County residents in active cancer treatment programs with basic living expenses.
