CULLMAN – The Cullman Police Department is advising victims of last night's storm to take precautions against scammers when hiring companies, contractors or individuals to make repairs or provide clean-up.
The CPD recommends the following:
- Ensure they have a valid business license.
- Ensure they are a licensed and bonded company.
- Ensure they provide valid contact information.
- Ensure they don’t require payment before work.
- Ask for references or past work experience.
- Take a photo of the person and vehicle.
- Obtain tag number.
"Do not let yourself be a victim! Any reputable business will not hesitate to provide the above information," said the CPD.
