WEST POINT – West Point and Cullman faced off in Tuesday afternoon softball action; the Lady Warriors continued from where they left off Monday night offensively, putting up 15 runs for the second straight game, winning easily, 15-4.

West Point struck first in its first at-bats of the game. Molly Pendley lined a one-out single to left field, then after Olivia Ball filed out to deep left-center, an errant throw by center fielder Gracie Cook moved Pendley over to second, a key moment in the inning because the next batter, Makayla Brown, lined an RBI single to left-center to put the Lady Warriors on the scoreboard.

And they added to their lead in the second as they batted around. Selena Clark got hit by the pitch to lead off the inning, and Carlie Wilkins drew a walk, then Avery McClure moved them over to third and second, respectively, on a sacrifice bunt. Gracie Abbott made it 2-0 with an RBI single up the middle, then Pendley lined a two-run double to left-center to make it 4-0. After Ball reached on a dropped fly ball by Brandy Peoples, Brown crushed a three-run home run over the center-field wall, and the Lady Warriors’ lead swelled to 7-0, which ended Savannah Davis's day.

Cullman finally got its offense going in the top of the third. Two singles put the Lady Bearcats in business with one out, and Peoples lined a three-run homer over the center-field fence to make it a 7-3 game. The Lady Warriors countered in their next at-bats. A hit by pitch and two walks loaded the bases with one out for Pendley, who drew a walk to make it 8-3. One out later, Brown lined a two-run single to right field as the Lady Warriors saw their lead increase to 10-3, then to 11-3 on a Hope Shedd RBI double to left-center.

Cullman added a run in the top of the fourth on an RBI groundout. The Lady Warriors added four more runs in their half on a two-run single by Ball and a two-run double by Brown to make it a 15-4 game and Wilkins overcame a lead-off double by Peoples to retire the next three Lady Bearcats to end the contest.

Brown finished the game going 4-for-4 with eight RBIs. Pendley added a pair of hits in three at-bats and three RBIs. Ball added a hit and a pair of RBIs. Abbott finished with two hits and an RBI and Shedd chipped in with a hit and an RBI. Wilkins, Abbott and Pendley each scored three runs. Clark and Ball each scored two and Brown and McClure each scored one. Wilkins went the distance, allowing eight hits, four runs, three of them earned, walked none and striking out two. West Point is now 4-8-2 on the season and will face off against the Lady Bearcats at Cullman next Tuesday.

Keslynn Grimmett and Peoples each had two hits and the latter finished with three RBIs for Cullman. Four more Lady Bearcats finished with at least one hit in the game; Cullman falls to 1-9 overall on the season and will travel to Hartselle on Thursday.
