CULLMAN – As of 10:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, Alabama State Troopers report, "We are not experiencing any significant hazardous road conditions at this time, other than some secondary roads in rural areas where there have been a few slick spots reported. However, we urge motorists to drive with caution as there may be patches of black ice on roadways and overpasses."
Troopers remind motorists to listen to their local news outlets for updates and to call 911 only to report crashes and other roadside emergencies.
Cullman County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) reports that, "all other roads in Cullman County are open and passable; however, it said, "Road conditions in Cullman County have not changed. Non-essential travel is discouraged. If you do have to travel, leave early and take your time. Icy patches have been reported on roadways as well as on bridges and overpasses.Cullman County Road Department crews have been out since just after daylight to check county roads and mitigate problem areas. Drivers are advised to be aware that there are some areas of ice especially on secondary roads and in areas that are sheltered from the sun and wind. Non-essential travel is discouraged but roads are open and passable if travel is necessary. Some patchy ice in areas but all state roads in Cullman County are open and passable. ALDOT crews continue to check I-65 to mitigate any problem areas. Travelers are advised to be aware that there could be icy spots and give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination."
The City of Cullman is reporting that all roads in the city are open.
