DODGE CITY – The Dodge City Town Council met at Dodge City Town Hall Thursday night to address several pieces of business within the community at its regular monthly meeting.

After approving the minutes from last month’s meeting, the council got things started with a vote on annual raises for Town employees. Dodge City Mayor Tawana Canada said the Town’s employees usually see a 2-5 percent salary increase each year. This year, however, the council voted to keep the salaries the same.

Next, the council discussed the salary for a new part-time city maintenance and grounds keeping position. Canada said the job will be 28 hours per week and the council approved a starting salary of $9.50 per hour with a review for a potential raise after 90 days.

The final vote of the night was to approve the purchase of storage building for Perry Ray Park located just behind the town hall. The council approved the purchase of the $2,900 12×20 house-style storage building before adjourning for the evening.

The  council will have its next meeting Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. in Dodge City Town Hall.
