Armed robbery at O’Reilly Auto Parts in Hanceville Tuesday night; HPD searching for suspect

HANCEVILLE – Hancevile Mayor Kenneth Nail and the Hanceville Police Department are asking for any information the public might have about an armed robbery that occurred at the O'Reilly Auto Parts store at 836 Main St. in Hanceville Tuesday night.

Nail made the public aware of the alleged robbery on Facebook Wednesday evening, saying: "Dear Facebook friends we need your help. Last night at approximately 8:15 a subject presented a firearm at the O'Reilly's Auto Parts in Hanceville and demanded money. He (forced) the employees back into the store and force(d) them to open the safe. Anyone having any information about this please contact Lt. Brannon (Hammick) at the Hanceville Police Department (at) 256 352 9811. (Y)our assistance is appreciated."

Hammick confirmed the robbery took place and said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the HPD.
