CULLMAN – Officers with the Cullman Police Department on Saturday arrested a Cullman man for trafficking in illegal drugs. The arrest came after Christopher Allen Michael Burgess, 28, was pulled over for reckless driving.
According to a media release issued by the CPD, officers received call of a reckless driver on Alabama Highway 157. Officer Tyler Jackson located and stopped the vehicle. During that stop, Jackson, along with Officers Matt Hollingsworth and Scott Warner and Cullman County Deputies Adam Clark and Austin Black, allegedly discovered a trafficking amount of opiates along with other drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
Burgess was charged with trafficking in illegal drugs, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and had an outstanding warrant for public intoxication.
A passenger in the vehicle, Stacie Lynne Marsh, 31, was also arrested for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both subjects were booked into the Cullman County Detention Center, where Burgess remains. Marsh has since bonded out.
The bond amounts are unknown, according to the CPD.
“I would like to commend the officers and deputies for an excellent job, and would like to thank the citizen that called in the original complaint,” said CPD Sgt. Intae Suh.
