Section 52, Cold Springs 50 (Girls)

Cold Springs looked to end the DAR Christmas Tournament on a winning note against Section, but fell just short at the end, losing by two points. The Lady Eagles (8-8) look to end their three-game skid next Thursday at Hanceville.

Cullman 69, Vestavia Hills 49 (Girls)

Cullman finished 2-1 in the Blue Devil Holiday Tournament after a dominant win over Vestavia Hills. The Lady Bearcats improve to 10-7 on the season and will take the rest of the year off before traveling to Guntersville next Tuesday.

Hartselle 50, Fairview 42 (Girls)

Fairview looked to finish strong in the DOCC against Hartselle, but couldn't quite pull it out at the end, as the Lady Aggies finished 1-2 in the classic. They fall to 9-6 on the season and look to get back on track next Tuesday at home against James Clemens.

West Point 61, Susan Moore 60 (Girls)

West Point looked to finish strong in the Keith Davis Memorial Christmas Tournament on Friday. They took on Susan Moore in what turned out to be a close game throughout. The Lady Warriors held an 18-15 lead after one, but saw themselves deadlocked with the Lady Bulldogs at 30-all at the half. They took a 49-46 lead into the final period, and were able to hold on to the one-point victory, improving to 12-5 on the season before they moved on to play Lawrence County (TN) later on in the day.

Lawrence County (TN) 66, West Point 60 (Girls)

West Point played its second game of the day against Lawrence County (TN). The Lady Warriors got off to a quick start, taking a 19-9 lead after the first, but got outscored, 25-13, in the second, and went into the locker room down, 34-32. It was a close third between both teams, but West Point was able to take a 48-47 lead heading into the fourth. Unfortunately, they were unable to hold on to the lead, as Lawrence County took the momentum, and West Point wound up falling, 66-60, to finish 2-2 in the tournament. The Lady Warriors are now 12-6 on the season, and will go back home to take on Good Hope next Tuesday.

Holly Pond's boys lost to McNicholas (OH), 75-43, yesterday, in the opening round of the King of the Smokies Tournament in Pigeon Forge and followed that up with a 75-55 victory today over Elizabethtown (TN). They are now 14-3 on the season. The Broncos’ 11-game winning streak was snapped in the loss yesterday. They will play Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
