FAIRVIEW – The West Point boys and Fairview girls picked up wins and momentum Friday night at Joe Shults Gymnasium on the campus of Fairview High School.

West Point drew first blood in the boys’ contest with a hard-earned bucket in the paint, but Fairview immediately answered with a deep three, and with that they were off. Both West Point and Fairview ran the floor well and poured in the points. West Point emerged from the quarter with the advantage, going up eight after one quarter of play.

West Point took over the game in the second. The Warriors dominated the paint and the perimeter on their way to a 21-point halftime lead.

Fairview fought back in the third. The Aggies methodically chipped away at the West Point lead, shaving 10 points off the deficit heading to the fourth.

The last frame was an up and down quarter for the Aggies. They cut the lead to as little as six, but West Point ballooned it back to 17. Fairview continued to play hard in the quarter, but the Warriors staved off the comeback attempt and claimed the 82-72 victory.
