VINEMONT – A Vinemont woman is in UAB Hospital, a victim of a hit and run Tuesday evening. The incident happened in the 100 block of County Road 1116 at approximately 8:45 p.m.
Alabama State Troopers identified the woman as Patricia Lorraine Brown, 39.
“The pedestrian was walking with the flow of traffic when she was struck,” said Trooper Chuck Daniel. “The vehicle then left the scene.”
Brown was transported to UAB by ambulance, according to Daniel, who said it appeared Brown was side-swiped.
Brown’s sister, Michelle Hamby, told The Tribune, “She was struck by a dark colored truck. She was with a friend who said that’s all he could see because he was in a panic. This truck drove off and left her in the road. We need to find out who the driver was or if anyone has any info. The only thing left behind was a piece of a bumper in the ditch beside where she laid. She was rushed to UAB Trauma Center where they said she had a shattered elbow, broken ribs and several fractures in her back.”
This is a developing story.
