VINEMONT – The Fairview Aggies and Lady Aggies took both games against Vinemont Tuesday evening.
Fairview 80, Vinemont 21 (Girls)
Fairview dominated from start to finish in a rout of Vinemont.
Ten different players found the scoring column for the Lady Aggies, led by Valentina Klocker with 13 points. Jacey Gorham ended up with 12. Molly McKelvy had 11, and Taylor Ann Yeager finished with 10.
Sadie Stanley led the Lady Eagles with eight points.
Fairview 63, Vinemont 24 (Boys)
Fairview overcame a slow start in the opening quarter to finish strong en route to a dominant win on the road.
The Aggies opened up the scoring with Bryson Fletcher nailing a three from the top of the key. After a Cameron Guthrie layup made it 5-0, each team struggled turnover wise in the next several possessions. Four quick points by Sawyer Daniel put an end to the Aggie drought, and Katch Johnson finally put the Eagles on the board after an almost six-minute scoreless drought. Luke Yarbrough scored eight of the final nine points for either team in the quarter, including two threes, to put Fairview up 17-3 after one. Eight different Fairview players scored at least one point in the first half, with Fairview taking a 37-8 halftime lead. The Aggies shifted into cruise control from there to travel home with the win.
Yarbrough finished with 15 points, six rebounds and three steals for the Aggies (4-1). Bryson Fletcher ended up with 13 points, seven rebounds, a pair of assists, and a steal. Guthrie had nine points, and Klayton Knop and Truman Boyd each finished with six as nine different players found the scoring column for Fairview, who will travel to Hayden on Friday.
"We got off to a really slow start because they were playing zone," Fairview head coach Branch Whitlock said. "But, we were able to overcome that. Yarbrough and Fletcher each had big scoring nights; that really helped us out."
Johnson finished with 12 points to lead Vinemont (0-3). Vinemont will travel to Falkville on Thursday.
