HARTSELLE – Yesterday wrapped up the Encore Girls Classic at Hartselle with Cullman, Fairview, Good Hope and Hanceville each looking to end the tournament with wins to get some momentum going back into regular season play.
Fairview 69, Midfield 46
The Fairview Lady Aggies looked to bounce back yesterday against Midfield in the consolation bracket. The Lady Aggies were only up 15-8 after one, but a 23-12 second-quarter run gave them more than enough cushion to eventually take home the win to move on to play Danville in the fifth-place game.
Taylor Yeager finished with 23 points for Fairview (5-2). Abby Schnittker had 13. Valentina Klocker ended up with 11, and Payton Golden had nine; the trio was three of seven Lady Aggies to score at least a point.
Danville 46, Fairview 43
The Lady Aggies trimmed a double-digit halftime lead against the Lady Hawks to just nine after three and outscored Danville 17-11 in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough as they fell just three points short to finish in sixth place. They ended up 2-2 in the tournament.
Yeager finished with 14 for Fairview (5-3). Abbi Taylor ended up with eight. McKinna Yearwood finished with seven. Klocker had six, and Schnittker had three. The Lady Aggies will hit the hardwood next Tuesday when they travel to Vinemont.
