CULLMAN COUNTY –  A Hanceville man was arrested and charged on Monday with attempted murder after he allegedly shot at an occupied vehicle following a domestic dispute.

Anthony Allen Garner, Jr., 47, is currently being held in the Cullman County Detention Center on a $60,000 bond.

According to a statement from the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), on Monday deputies and investigators responded to an accident involving parties in a domestic dispute with reports of a possible discharged firearm. Upon arrival, they learned that Garner had allegedly fired a weapon at a vehicle with two people inside.

A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said that after further investigation it was learned that Garner intentionally rammed the two victims as they pulled out of Shady Grove Church onto County Road 783. Garner then allegedly fired one shot at the two occupants of the vehicle before getting into a physical altercation with the occupants.  CCSO deputies arrived on scene within minutes and detained Garner, later arresting him.

"This is a domestic dispute between parties familiar with each other that involved a gun and obviously went way too far. I am glad the deputies were able to arrive at the scene in a quick manner before it got even worse," said Sheriff Matt Gentry.
