CULLMAN – Thousands of excited trick or treaters and their parents packed the Cullman Regional parking lot Thursday evening for the hospital’s third annual trunk-or-treat event. The event saw more than 8,000 people participate in 2016 and this year's event saw at least that many come out for the fun.

Participants say the atmosphere seems to get more intense every year as the different departments and physicians at Cullman Regional compete to see who can put together the most elaborate trunk display. This year's competitors went all out with designs ranging from the “Ghostbusters” to “Star Wars” to even “Scooby Doo.”

There was also a play area set up for the kids to start burning off some of that sugar rush, featuring bouncy houses, inflatable obstacle courses and slides, as well as other food and drink vendors.
