CULLMAN – The Cullman Police Department is getting in on the growing trunk-or-treat tradition this year. The department's event will be on Halloween night, Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. and will feature more than just cars. Sgt. Adam Clark, who is organizing the trunk or treat, said he thinks it will provide a lot of fun for kids and peace of mind for their parents.
"We thought it would be really neat to set up a trunk or treat here,” shared Clark. “We know it'll be safe and we'll have the helicopters coming out, we'll have some of the police vehicles up here and we have some folks that aren't even affiliated with the police department coming out to participate in it."
Clark and the police department are excited to be able to provide a safe, fun environment for the kids within the community to celebrate Halloween.
"It's just something we really wanted to do for the kids in the community and also set up a place where parents can bring their kids and they don't have to worry about them going door to door or who they're getting candy from," Clark said. " We're expecting about 15-20 cars and like I said we'll have the helicopter and one of the hummers and maybe the MRAP out there too, so it ought to be a lot of fun."
Donations will be accepted at the event and will go toward the department's Shop with a Cop program.
The CPD is located at 601 Second Ave. NE.
