GOOD HOPE – It was Senior Night for the Good Hope Raiders, who held a ceremony before Friday’s game to honor senior members of each organization involved in the program, including football players Kyle Carlton, Will Dickerson, Mason Moniz and Tucker Putnam. After the ceremony concluded, the Raiders took the field against the visiting West Point Warriors.

The Warriors defense put together arguably their best performance of the season, shutting out the Raiders offense and allowing just 99 yards of offense in a 37-0 win. The West Point defense gave up 1 yard or less on 15 of the Raiders’ plays on offense, including five sacks. Junior quarterback Bailey Quick had some success running the ball, going for 52 yards on 14 carries, but it wasn’t enough to keep Good Hope in the game. Quick was forced to leave the game with an injury in the fourth quarter.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Warriors methodically moved the ball across the field controlling the clock and hitting explosive plays in key situations. Junior quarterback Rylan Jones had an efficient night throwing the ball, finishing 13-of-17 with 132 yards including a 36-yard touchdown pass to senior wide out Raylon Moore in the first quarter for the first score of the game.

Junior running back Hunter Persall continued his standout season for the Warriors with 194 yards and three touchdowns on just 16 carries; 178 of those yards came in the first half. Persall’s biggest play came on an 87-yard touchdown sprint down the sideline with three minutes left in the first half to give his team a 17-0 lead going into the locker room. Persall also caught four passes for 20 yards. Overall the West Point offense racked up 365 yards with a balanced attack that the Raiders never quite got under control.

The win pulls the West Point Warriors up to 5-3 in the regular season as they get ready to travel to Curry next week with their play-off hopes on the line. The loss at home drops Good Hope to 3-5 on the year as they will look to regroup this week and try to bounce back on the road next week against Dora.
