BETHSADIA – A fire in the Bethsadia community early Thursday morning claimed the life of Mark Tilley, 42, of Cullman, confirmed Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick.
Multiple fire departments responded to the mobile home fire, which was originally reported at approximately 7:13 a.m. in the 900 block of County Road 803, between County Roads 421 and 436.
"Initially, Bethsadia and Logan responded to the call," said Bethsadia Volunteer Fire Department Chief Keith Bates. "That's one of those roads that doesn't really have any hydrants. It's just out of reach of hydrants. We had tankers from Good Hope and Trimble. Logan also brought a tanker as well."
According to Logan Fire Chief Toby Bates, as of noontime Thursday, the fire was completely out. He said the home is a total loss.
The victim's body has been sent to Huntsville for autopsy.
A spokesman for the Cullman County Sheriff's Office said the CCSO is assisting the state fire marshal in the investigation.
The initial call to Cullman County Dispatch reported a fully-involved house fire, with cars in the driveway, but it was unknown if the structure was occupied. A later call from authorities on the scene requested the presence of the Cullman County Coroner.
