Elks Lodge to hold annual low country boil this Friday

CULLMAN – This Friday, Sept. 29, from 6-8 p.m., the Cullman Elks Lodge will hold its annual low country boil. The event, helps fund the $1,000 Elks Lodge Scholarships, which are given to one male and one female student in Cullman County each year.

For $15 per plate, customers will get 12 shrimp, polish sausage, red potatoes, corn on the cob, coleslaw and homemade beer-battered hushpuppies.

“We get the medium-sized, easy-peel, de-veined shrimp flash-frozen,” Elks Lodge member Dale Ball said. “Everything else we buy locally.”

Ball said she started the event to have something different, and because she loves boils.

“Everybody loves seafood,” she said.
