VINEMONT – The Vinemont Lady Eagles hosted the Lady Saints of St. Bernard Tuesday night for a non-conference volleyball matchup and it was all Eagles from the first set. Vinemont swept St. Bernard in three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-9 and 25-14 to win the match.
Despite the loss, the Lady Saints got good performances from Emma Tafazoli who finished the match with two aces, four kills and two blocks and Avy Whaley who finished with five kills and three aces.
On the Eagles’ side of the net, seemingly everyone on the floor played well with a couple of standouts. Junior Maddie Oliver was effective at the server position scoring five aces in the second set to give Vinemont a big lead early on. Closer to the net, junior Rachel Hall was effective offensively and defensively putting up three blocks and nine kills on the night.
Other Eagles with big contributions were junior Cassidy Wright who finished with five kills and sophomore Gracie Kennedy who delivered four aces late in the third set to put it away for Vinemont.
St. Bernard will look to bounce back Thursday night on the road at Falkville and Vinemont's next match will be a rematch with St. Bernard at home on Oct. 2.
