CULLMAN – Vinemont walked onto St. Bernard's court Thursday afternoon with victory on its mind. The Lady Eagles accomplished their goal, sweeping the Lady Saints in straight sets.

The Lady Eagles got off to a strong start with set number one. They went on a 7-1 run riding the strength of back-to-back-to-back aces by Bethany Golden. Vinemont kept applying pressure adding an ace from Alexis Boner and a stuff from Rachel Hall at the net. Never a team to give up, Saint Bernard got as close as seven before Vinemont pulled away and took the set 25-16.

Vinemont picked up where it left off, starting the second set on a 4-1 run before the Lady Saints fought back to tie it and force a Vinemont timeout. Out of the timeout Vinemont went on a tear, rattling off nine unanswered points. St. Bernard answered late in the set with seven unanswered points of its own, but Vinemont held on to win the set 25-21.

The Lady Saints scored the first two points of set three and Vinemont answered with the next three. The score flip-flopped for the majority of the set before Vinemont took control late. The set ended with a massive kill from Hall to get the victory 25 – 22 and the match 3-0.
