ADDISON –  Addison, Meek and Brilliant volleyball enjoyed some tri-match action on Thursday, with sweeps for Addison and Meek.

Addison (3-0) over Brilliant

No. 1 ranked Addison (13-2) overcame a slow start to pull away late from Brilliant in game one, 25-11. After Brilliant stayed with the Lady Bulldogs through almost half the game, Addison turned up the pressure and allowed just six points for the rest of the game, outscoring Brilliant, 17-6.

Addison continued its momentum into the second game, dominating the Lady Wildcats, 25-9. The Lady Bulldogs completed the sweep in convincing fashion, 25-14.

Lady Bulldogs Savannah Manley, Abbie and Allie Chambless, McKenzie Berry had stand-out performances, and the rest of the team stepped up their game, piling up kills from almost every member on the roster.

Meek (3-0) over Brilliant

Meek easily took care of Brilliant in the first game, 25-11. Game two was much the same as the first, with the Lady Tigers on top, 25-13, and Meek finished up the sweep rather easily, 25-12.

The Lady Tigers got huge performances from Kelsy Kilpatrick, Sevanna Banks, Amanda Cunningham and Jayden Waldrep, with the number of kills in all three games almost too many to count as the Lady Tigers kept their intensity through all three games with everybody chipping in.

Addison (3-0) over Meek

Addison overcame a great Meek team in game one to win, 25-15. Addison took a 14-5 lead and looked toward another strong performance, but the Lady Tigers had other ideas, cutting the Lady Bulldogs’ lead to 16-11 after a big point by Cunningham, but Addison pulled away late, outscoring the Lady Tigers.

Game two, it was all Addison as they jumped out to an 11-3 lead and were on cruise control from there, taking the game, 25-11. The final game was not so easy. Addison took a 13-4 lead, but the Lady Tigers sheared it to 17-10 after a kill by Cunningham. The Lady Bulldogs finished the night strong, though, scoring eight of the final 12 points, including the final three, to clinch the sweep.

Big aces and kills by Destinie Walker, Manley, Abbie and Allie Chambless, Kendra Tyree, Berry and others helped cement the sweep for Addison, who improved to 14-4 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs will take part in the Donoho Classic on Saturday.

Meek got great performances from Cunningham, Kilpatrick, Banks and Jayden Waldrep. The Lady Tigers will participate in the Elkmont Varsity Invitational on Saturday.
