ATHENS – A bicyclist was killed today, Aug. 6, after being struck by a vehicle in Limestone County, according to a statement from Alabama State Troopers.
Evaristo Ocampo, 66, of Athens was killed when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a 2001 Ford driven by Jacob Lewis, 30, also of Athens.
Troopers said Ocampo was pronounced dead at the scene. Lewis was not injured.
The crash occurred at 8:10 a.m. Sunday morning on Alabama 127, 1 mile north of Athens.
Nothing further is available as Troopers continue to investigate.
