CULLMAN – On Thursday morning the city of Cullman welcomed its first place to play popular escape games by cutting the ribbon on Escape Cullman.

Escape Cullman celebrated three weeks of business on the day of its ribbon cutting, and The Tribune stopped by to see how things were going.

“Very good,” said co-owner Allison Meriwether.  “We’ve had a bunch of groups come through; everybody seemed to enjoy themselves, and said they’ll be back for game two when it’s open.”

And about that second escape room, Meriwether commented, “We hope to be open in August.  We just got our second game to us, and we hope to start putting it together soon.”

The second escape room will have a bank heist theme.  Both rooms’ scenarios are designed to accommodate seven to nine participants for a one-hour challenge.  Meriwether and business partner Tyson Pruett also plan to install other games on the facility’s second floor.

According to Meriwether, “We’re kind of thinking two 30-minute games.  Couples can go for date night, and we have some ideas for kids’ games.”

Escape Cullman, located at 103 Third St. SW is open Thursday through Saturday from 4-10 p.m., and Sunday 1-6 p.m.  Players are encouraged to pre-book online at www.escapecullman.com. Find them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/escapecullman.
