CULLMAN – A former Cullman resident was killed Saturday night in Nashville. According to Nashville's WKRN, Amy Freeman Williams, 41, was shot outside her home by an ex-boyfriend in the 1500 block of Fatherland Street near South 15th Street around 10:15 p.m. The report named the shooter as Andrew Tucker.
Williams was the daughter of Dr. Phil and Patti Freeman of Cullman and the granddaughter of the late Chester Freeman, known for his work with Cullman Parks and Recreation. She graduated from Cullman High School in 1993.
WKRN reported:
Investigators believe Williams was standing on the sidewalk talking to her sister as she was preparing to leave when Tucker drove by.
Tucker reportedly turned around and parked his pickup truck near Williams’ home.
Williams walked over to Tucker and spoke with him for five minutes before shots were fired, according to police.
Multiple witnesses told police there was no shouting or confrontation prior to the shooting.
Tucker then walked to his truck and shot himself in the head.
Tucker, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene. Williams was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.
Metro police said the former couple had been dating for four months prior to ending the relationship a week ago.
They had no history of domestic violence on file with Metro police.
No additional information was released.
