CULLMAN – Friends of a local woman who was badly injured in a wreck last week in Holly Pond are selling T-shirts to raise funds for her medical bills.

Stephanie Morton is heading up the effort for her friend Skylar Bolton. The shirts, $20 each, are available in a wide range of sizes and are black, with the words “Skylar Strong.”

The crash that injured Bolton occurred on Friday, June 9 on U.S. Highway 278 East, just east of the Duck River Bridge.  Rachael Danielle Kelley, 24, of Vinemont was killed when the 1991 Honda Civic she was driving collided with the 2011 Toyota Camry in which Bolton was a passenger. Bolton, her father and her 7-month-old daughter were transported to area hospitals.

A passenger in the Civic, Albert Matthew Waid, 24, of Vinemont, died while being transported to an area hospital, according to emergency medical personnel on the scene.

According to Morton, Bolton suffered broken ribs, internal bleeding, many external lacerations and bruising. She had emergency surgery this week.

“We have no idea what the medical costs are going to be,” Morton said. “The family is still battling with the insurance company.”

Morton is taking orders for the T-shirts on her Facebook page at http://qrne.ws/tshirts (Morton’s page lists her as Stephanie Linn.) and at http://qrne.ws/skylarstrong.  Those who order a shirt will be emailed an invoice.

A GoFundMe page is set up for Saxon Levi Waid, 3, the son of Kelley and Waid. Find it at www.gofundme.com/saxon-levi-waid.
