HOLLY POND – Holly Pond girls' basketball coach Paige Parker-Adams abruptly submitted her resignation yesterday, following just one season.
According to Holly Pond High School Principal Kim Butler, "She didn't give much of a reason. She just needs to step away from coaching for a while."
Parker-Adams took over coaching duties after her father-in-law Scott Adams retired from Holly Pond. Parker-Adams is known for her career under Tammy West at Cold Springs and ran the Holly Pond JV girls’ program prior to being named varsity coach. Her husband Drew is the varsity boys' basketball coach at Good Hope.
"I don't know any of the direct details, but Mrs. Adams did a great job coaching this year for Holly Pond High School and she has been and will continue to be a great role model for the young people of Cullman County," said Cullman County Schools Superintendent Shane Barnette. "If she feels that she needs to take a step back from coaching I fully support her. I further believe that she will continue to be a great teacher and when the time is right she will be welcome to coach again."
