CULLMAN – At a special called meeting early Wednesday morning, the Cullman City School Board approved a bid from Creative Aluminum Products of Jasper for repairs to awnings at Cullman Middle School that were damaged by high winds during a storm on March 30, 2017.
According to Superintendent Dr. Susan Patterson, the special meeting had to be called in order to expedite the project. All necessary paperwork from bidders and the insurance company arrived within the last week, and the board was concerned that putting off bid approval until the next regular meeting on June 26 could prevent repairs from being completed before the start of school in August.
Damage at CMS from the March 30 storm included the awnings, roof shingles and intercom wiring. Replacement of the awnings will complete repairs to the school.
