2017 SEC Baseball Tournament: South Carolina 10, Missouri 2
It was all South Carolina Thursday in the second game of day three of the 2017 SEC Baseball Tournament. The Gamecocks drummed the Missouri Tigers to the tune of 10-2, booting Mizzou from the tournament.
South Carolina hit the first of their four home runs in the top of the second when designated hitter Alex Destino blasted one to left field. Danny Blair singled home TJ Hopkins later in the inning to give the Gamecocks a 2-0 lead that they never lost.
The Gamecocks added another run to their total in the top of the fourth thanks to a long ball by Jonah Bride that cleared the left-field fence. Missouri picked up the first of only two runs in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double by Alex Samples. After four complete innings, the Gamecocks led the Tigers 3-1.
The Gamecocks added a single run in the fourth, three in the fifth, including the first of two Carlos Cortez home runs, and four in the sixth, highlighted by the second Cortez home run in as many innings.
Missouri's Nelson Mompierre went hard in the bottom of the ninth, but it was too little, too late as a South Carolina cruised to a 10-2 victory.
