CULLMAN – The Cullman City Council held a special session today, during which it approved the event and noise permits for Rock the South and other requests.  Mayor Woody Jacobs and Councilman John Cook were absent, both away on business at other events.

With not too many days to go until the highly publicized and attended event takes place, Nathan Baugh of Rock the South, LLC received his special event and noise permits to hold the 6th Annual Rock the South Music Festival on June 2-3 in Heritage Park.

A related request was approved for Bobby Greenawalt of B & B Bartending, LLC to be issued a special events alcohol license to serve drinks at Heritage Park during Rock the South.  The request received a favorable recommendation from the City of Cullman Alcohol Review Committee, with three restrictions:

  • No glass containers
  • Controlled entrance and exit points at the site
  • Issuance of wristbands to customers of legal age

The council also granted a beer and wine off-premises alcohol license to Ahmed Bagani of Maan Trading Company, LLC to sell alcoholic beverages at the Shell station located at 1408 Second Ave. SW.  The request had previously received a favorable recommendation from the City of Cullman Alcohol Review Committee.

Lastly, Council President Pro Tem Jenny Folsom recommended that Chris Branham be appointed to the City Zoning Board.  With Zoning Director Rick Fulmer present to speak in favor of the recommendation, the appointment was approved.

The Cullman City Council usually meets on the second and fourth Monday evenings of each month at 7 p.m. in the City Hall auditorium.  The public is invited to attend.
