GOOD HOPE – State Trooper and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Public Information Officer Curtis Summerville late Monday afternoon said the agency still has no definite description of the vehicle that struck and killed Helen Virginia Duke, 75 on Sunday. "We have no idea of the make, model or color," he said. "All we know is what we released is that it may be some type of Ford." Summerville said the vehicle may have damage to the passenger side mirror.

Family members believe the vehicle may be black or dark blue, according to a relative who spoke to the The Tribune.

Duke was the victim of a fatal hit-and-run some time before lunch on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14. The incident occurred near 478 Schwaiger Road in Good Hope. Authorities were called to the scene just before 3 p.m. after family members discovered Duke's body in a ditch beside the road near her mailbox.

Anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the crash, seen the vehicle or have knowledge of the whereabouts of the vehicle is asked to contact the Decatur State Trooper Post at 256-353-0631 or ALEA's SBI Crime Tip Line at 1-800-392-8011 .

Updates will be released as they become available.
