CULLMAN – A Cullman woman was arrested recently after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine and other drugs.
According to a press release from the Cullman City Police Department (CPD), Officers Trey Higginbotham and Tyler Jackson pulled over Chase Leanne Weeks, 22, for a traffic violation. During the course of the traffic stop, Cullman County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) Deputy Kevin Bowers (K-9 unit) arrived on scene to assist.
The K-9 allegedly alerted on the vehicle, leading officers to conduct a search, during which Higginbotham and Jackson recovered a half ounce (approximately 14 grams) of methamphetamine, along with marijuana and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
Weeks was arrested for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and transported to the Cullman County Detention Center.
At the jail, Weeks was found to be in possession of more methamphetamine, resulting in a charge of promoting prison contraband. Weeks has since bonded out.
"I would like to commend Officers Higginbotham and Jackson for an outstanding job," said CPD Sgt. Chris Thomason.
